In the 1950’s, Hollywood Film-stars like Marylin Monroe, Jayne Mansfield, Mamy Van Doren and Joan Collins et al. perfected an extravagant, hip-swaying walk that the Media termed ‘THE WIGGLE’. And so, if a lady of ample-proportions was confronted by something like a narrow aisle, there was considered to be ‘Very Little WIGGLE-ROOM’. The phrase currently in use, when it was deemed that there was not much room to manoeuvre in certain situations – negotiations for instance – should be as stated above and NOT ‘WRIGGLE ROOM.
